HOW TO CHARTER A YACHT
If you haven’t chartered before, it can be a little daunting so we’re here to explain every step of the process from the etiquette and protocols to the costs and the planning. First step of course is to choose your favourite destination where you would like the yacht for your holiday.
The most popular choice is of course the Mediterrainan in the summer, and of course narrowing that down to the South of France.
Guests & Cabins:
Once that decision is made then we can search for the perfect yacht for you, based on your needs. The normal cabin format of yachts between 30 meter – 50meter is 2 twin cabins, 2 doubles and a master, accommodating 10 guests, and yachts usually having a maximum of 12 guests onboard. Of course these are the norms but there’s always alternatives and flexibility.
Yachts are prices by a weekly rate, and you can course take by the day although the price will increase slightly. The on top of the price you’ll have the VAT of the local country, the APA and any tips you
Advanced Provisioning Allowance, for those that don’t know can be complicated. This is basically to cover all your costs during your charter, on average that 30% of the charter fee, no this is just held by the yacht and of course anything you don’t spend you’ll get back but this can cover things such as fuel, food, mooring, and other small expenses during your charter which the captain will manage and so your receipts for at the end of your charter.
Again a regular questions is whats the correct amount, well of course this is discretionary so its really up to you, but the industry guidelines are usually 10% of the charter fee, which can be give in cash at the end of the charter of taken out of any remaining APA
